CFA School of Ministry in Nepal !

I talked to one of our student Santosh Tomata who came from far west.   He told me that he was only believer in his family. His family were against his decision about following Christ and he mentioned me that he was going to start new church in his unreached village. Once I heard this I really felt encouraging him with vision that he has received and backing him up.  This was why we started to equip and train new people. Make that happen where each village have its own church. This is awesome way to raise church planters.
After the earthquake in 2015, we did not start a new semester because the children’s home was using facility where we ran our Bible College.  We used to run 3 years course. We finally got started short-term school again in fall 2017.  Our 24 students came from different parts of Nepal and closer from boarder of India and Tibet. Most of them were from different tribal groups who have their own languages, culture and traditions.    Our instructors were most local pastors and leaders during this whole fall training.

Urmila B.K. decided to join the Bible School because she wanted to serve God and know Him better. She was the only believer in her family like Santosh and this was a bold step for her. She has completed her training. Her plan was to be a church planter and she is on her way back to her Village.  Most of these students have a deep and genuine hunger to be equipped and know more from His word and know Him. Our students were first generation believers and did not have church background, since they normally came from Hindu or Buddhist backgrounds.

On 6 November, we rejoiced together at graduation to see them completing their training and go through graduation. It has been part of my heart. It always touches my heart when I see students from different languages; tribes and regions come to us. Enjoy seeing them grow and get discipled and   go through the training, and see them graduated. Looking forward to see how God is going to use them and excited about the new CFABC school year in January 2018.
Some of the students turned to be our native missionaries we go along with them for long time. We try to support them to start the work and help them whatever way we can.

Be praying for bhim and his fellowship

Be praying for Bhim from Sunsari !  I met him many years back in Kathmandu in a local bus. It was really crowded, but somehow, we started talking. He had told God that he would end his life if God did not speak to him or send someone to speak to him that day. It was such a divine appointment! Later he committed his life to serve God and went on to do church planting in his local area. He and his family are safe, but his village and the whole district has been flooded. 13 lives were lost in their neighborhood and their home was under water and has been damaged. The biggest river Saptakoshi runs through this area.

Nepal signs religious conversion law !

The president of Nepal, Bidhya Devi Bhandari, has signed the criminal offences bill on 17th of October, 2017. This article is going to focus on section 9 of the bill that has been passed. In this article, religious conversion has been described as being a criminal offence, including encouraging others to change religion, converting another person or professing to them one’s own religion with similar intentions or without any intentions. If found guilty, five years imprisonment and a penalty of fifty thousand is to be suffered by the offender.

Extreme flooding and landslides in Nepal!

Months of June, July and August are monsoon season. Flooding and landslides are common.  Nepal has the tallest mountains in the world. When it rains a lot, the water rushes from north Nepal to South Nepal. The high mountains are in the North. The south is full of plain fields used for agriculture. 60% of Nepal’s population is in South. When the rainfalls, most rivers double or triple their size on their way from Mountains through the hills toward south and wash away nearby homes and fields. In the last few days, there has been extreme rainfall, which has caused significant damage.
According to the government news channel, 74 people  are killed in floods and landslides in last few days.  Many are missing and hundreds thousands homes have been flooded. Out of 75, 21 districts have been hit hard by the flash floods and landslides. Three domestic airports are shut down and schools and educational intuitions are closed.

Some of our native missionaries and churches are located in South Nepal. Bhim from Sunsari in South East Nepal,  Suklal from mid-South Nepal, Ram Prasad from Manohari, Midwest South and Biren from Kailali Far West South. We are trying to reach them but phone lines are down. Some of the bridges connecting the highway to East and West have been washed away. Many places landslides have piled rock and mud on the road and blocked access. Some parts of the roads are washed away or closed. Hundreds of families have been displaced after the floodwater gushed into most parts of Tarai region.
Since flood has risen, people have no way to bury their dead. Government has warned people to stay away from the effected areas. The government has mobilized the Nepal police and the army.
We are currently looking into ways to help the people affected by the flood. Your donation and prayers are appreciated as we have people ready in Nepal to support the people in the affected areas. We are currently looking to support the government relief efforts by support, supplies and man power if needed. We are also looking on ways to help in the next couple of months, when the effects of the flooding will hit the whole country with the lack of food supply. Please pray for provision and wisdom.
1.    Pray for the rain will slow down and stop.
2.    Pray for the Nepali government as they try to deal with this situation and help people.
3.    Be praying for people who lost their loved ones, homes, churches and the believers that the Lord will protect them
4.    We are trying to send our leadership from Kathmandu to South Nepal with food, emergency relief supplies and medicine. Please pray for their effort and their safety.
5.    Pray that the Lord will provide for us to make a difference in those areas and to be able to share the gospel in the midst of suffering.
