Be praying for bhim and his fellowship

Be praying for Bhim from Sunsari !  I met him many years back in Kathmandu in a local bus. It was really crowded, but somehow, we started talking. He had told God that he would end his life if God did not speak to him or send someone to speak to him that day. It was such a divine appointment! Later he committed his life to serve God and went on to do church planting in his local area. He and his family are safe, but his village and the whole district has been flooded. 13 lives were lost in their neighborhood and their home was under water and has been damaged. The biggest river Saptakoshi runs through this area.

Nepal signs religious conversion law !

The president of Nepal, Bidhya Devi Bhandari, has signed the criminal offences bill on 17th of October, 2017. This article is going to focus on section 9 of the bill that has been passed. In this article, religious conversion has been described as being a criminal offence, including encouraging others to change religion, converting another person or professing to them one’s own religion with similar intentions or without any intentions. If found guilty, five years imprisonment and a penalty of fifty thousand is to be suffered by the offender.

Extreme flooding and landslides in Nepal!

Months of June, July and August are monsoon season. Flooding and landslides are common.  Nepal has the tallest mountains in the world. When it rains a lot, the water rushes from north Nepal to South Nepal. The high mountains are in the North. The south is full of plain fields used for agriculture. 60% of Nepal’s population is in South. When the rainfalls, most rivers double or triple their size on their way from Mountains through the hills toward south and wash away nearby homes and fields. In the last few days, there has been extreme rainfall, which has caused significant damage.
According to the government news channel, 74 people  are killed in floods and landslides in last few days.  Many are missing and hundreds thousands homes have been flooded. Out of 75, 21 districts have been hit hard by the flash floods and landslides. Three domestic airports are shut down and schools and educational intuitions are closed.

Some of our native missionaries and churches are located in South Nepal. Bhim from Sunsari in South East Nepal,  Suklal from mid-South Nepal, Ram Prasad from Manohari, Midwest South and Biren from Kailali Far West South. We are trying to reach them but phone lines are down. Some of the bridges connecting the highway to East and West have been washed away. Many places landslides have piled rock and mud on the road and blocked access. Some parts of the roads are washed away or closed. Hundreds of families have been displaced after the floodwater gushed into most parts of Tarai region.
Since flood has risen, people have no way to bury their dead. Government has warned people to stay away from the effected areas. The government has mobilized the Nepal police and the army.
We are currently looking into ways to help the people affected by the flood. Your donation and prayers are appreciated as we have people ready in Nepal to support the people in the affected areas. We are currently looking to support the government relief efforts by support, supplies and man power if needed. We are also looking on ways to help in the next couple of months, when the effects of the flooding will hit the whole country with the lack of food supply. Please pray for provision and wisdom.
1.    Pray for the rain will slow down and stop.
2.    Pray for the Nepali government as they try to deal with this situation and help people.
3.    Be praying for people who lost their loved ones, homes, churches and the believers that the Lord will protect them
4.    We are trying to send our leadership from Kathmandu to South Nepal with food, emergency relief supplies and medicine. Please pray for their effort and their safety.
5.    Pray that the Lord will provide for us to make a difference in those areas and to be able to share the gospel in the midst of suffering.

Blood donation program by youths!

Once in three months our youths from local Mahima churches in Kathmandu meet and have fellowships together! They have been doing this for last few years. It connects all of our Mahima churches together in Kathmandu and keeps youths on fire.  All our locations are different but they are one church and keeps them united.  They invite other friends and reach their unreached friends through these programs and fellowships. Lot of our kids from both children home are involved actively.

Thank you Christoph!

Christoph and Santosh have visited Mugu, one of the local church in the second week of month of May 2017.   Recently Christoph my friend was able to travel and do teaching to the lay leaders from that area. Thank you Christoph for taking Santosh with you and training our local lay leaders in that area.
Mugu and Jumla are in Karnali zone, far west region of Nepal.  These are the least developed districts of Nepal. In this region of the country, poverty and unemployment are big thing. Lot of people do not have enough food to support their families so family members travel to India to get job and support their families.  This area is full of hills, dry mountains, difficult for access. Not great roads, no power and challenge of getting safe drinking water
The cultural and religious practices are filled with superstition. Women stay in cowsheds and caves when they are going through monthly menstrual period and while delivering babies. Girls are often married in a young age.  We have adopted brother Gorkharaj as native missionary few years back to reach mugu area.  Our goal is to reach those unreached areas. Please keep him and his church in your prayers!
